In Playa Venao, a coastal community on the Pacific side of Panama, is an eco-property, surf hotel, campsite and hostel that has been operating for 13 years. They have reforested over 30 hectares of land that was primarily used for cattle pastureland, and planted 25,000 trees. I photographed a story of the guest experience, the reforestation and permaculture initiatives for marketing and brand assets. I documented how they work with the land for it to thrive, for the farm to provide enough food for the restaurant, and how to store water from rainy season and move it throughout the property to meet the demands of tourism.

Hotel San Cristobal Baja.
This is the best hotel in Todos Santos, hands down. My stay was exactly what I needed after a long journey from Costa Rica. This is a hidden gem nestled north of Cabo San Lucas in the Baja Peninsula in Mexico.

Kalu Yala Sustainability Institute
I spent a week in the jungle of Panama mentoring graduate media students and creating a story for marketing assets for the Kalu Yala Sustainability Institute. I documented the current state of the project; the town design was created and currently grows from the thought leadership of students who live and learn on the property for three-month increments. I explored primitive architecture and sustainable building materials, how to create an infrastructure from the wild, jungle farming techniques, and the Kalu Yala formula for experiential learning.
Transcend out of sight, out of body, out of mind … into the world around you. Close your eyes and let the inner light guide the way. Then fly, after all we are just bodies moving through space
//
The Fog rolled in and in an instant we were consumed by a giant blanket of soft white air. It called to us to go deeper into the jungle where all will be revealed. With this REWILDING ritual, we honor the divine feminine and spirits of the earth and awaken our true human nature.

For this project, I photographed three main cacao producing regions in Costa Rica working with one of the country’s largest producers of chocolate and raw cacao products. The photographs of farmers and their collectivos were used for marketing materials for the brand and to create a field training guide on proper growing, farming, production and harvesting methods of Cacao. Each phase of making the product, from farming to final packaging was documented. This was funded in partnership with Dev Equity, an innovative impact investment manager that provides long-term capital and support to commercially viable, socially responsible businesses.

When is the last time you felt truly alive? Truly human. In the digital era, we are moving at lightning speed and REWILDING serves to connect us back to our roots, to the earth.
Rewilding is a conservationist’s term for preserving animal corridors in the wild, and as our natural resources deplete, we too must maintain our connection to our natural environment and our planet, and do everything we can in our power to preserve these pathways.
After twelve years in New York City, I was called to the WILD - to shed life as I know it and reconnect from the ground up. I spend time in the jungle, forest, and ocean in Costa Rica and am deeply immersed in the process. I work as a vehicle to connect my portrait subjects to the element they are most drawn to for example, the earth, fire, water, air, the forest, a river, tree, or the ocean — we go to that which is calling and embark on an energetic and sacred journey of transformation.
In addition to feeling deeply connected to the earth, there is a sense of personal empowerment that is developed after a REWILDING session, it awakens something intrinsic, unspoken and deeply human.

I’ve always been a water creature, drawn to it’s deep mystery in motion, calming powers and vast expansiveness. This element grounds me, reminding me exactly how human we are. Like Rumi says, “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” I live by the sea so I can visit her often, listen to her songs and be held.
An exploration of conscious expansion, LIGHT WORK envisions the human experience through a lens of light. Inspired by insights gained during deep meditative states, this series serves to connect you to a higher state of being
